I did this, I hope you do too!

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING  REALLY NEAT!    It takes less than a minute to participate!

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com   you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can’t pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!    It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?    Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.

This takes just 10 seconds and it’s a wonderful way to say thank you.    Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do.  We can never say enough thank you’s.

Thanks for taking to time to support our military!

Facebook

November 3rd, 2009 by sbartro-greenville

Today I was having a discussion with one of my co-workers about Facebook.  Why don’t people friend some people?  In some cases I can definitely understand… but old boyfriends and girlfriends who have MOVED ON and have families of their own?!  I just don’t get it some times.

I had asked to be a friend of one of the guys I liked in high school… 15 years ago.  He never friended me.  Is he stuck in the 90’s or what?!  That’s just ridiculous.  I’m married, been married for 10 years in December, have a good job, house, dogs… I just wanted to say hi and see what he’s up to… like everyone else on FB!

Whatever.

Don’t forget to say Thank you!

On the “tail” of learning to be more compassionate as in the case of Baxter and his patients (video below) I would like to vent.

I was on Woodruff Road and it was pretty much bumper to bumper.  Actually being on Woodruff Road and not stuck in themiddle of an interseciton is a feat within itself!  Anyway, even with it being bumper to bumper, I allowed a lady to make a right hand turn into traffic, b/c I knew she was going to be stuck there for a little bit.  (Perhpas a little pessimistic of others courtesy)  She was talking on her cell phone at the time.  That doesn’t bother me.  What bothers me is that she didn’t even wave to say “thank you.”

When that happens to you, does that bother you?  It bothers me.  Good thing peoples cell phone numbers aren’t there license plate numbers, or my bill would be upward of $500 a month!

Okay, I feel better now.  Thank you!

LOL

Let’s learn a thing from Baxter…

This will make you cry.  This will make you strive to be more compassionate.  This will help you understand the awesome power of pets and a smile.

I know, I know, it’s been a while…

October 21st, 2009 by sbartro-greenville

How you doing? I know it’s been a while since I’ve talked to you, I’m sorry.  Getting ready for Radiothon does take a little time.  Again, thank you so much for supporting our Children’s Hospital!  $260,000… WOW.  Just amazing.  You can still see video/photos at www.Radiothon2009.com

So far, not too bad this week.  I did mess up and stick my foot in mouth yesterday.  We won’t get in to it, but I apologized.  Doesn’t make things right, and perhaps ammend completely… but b/c I’m here today, I know I have an opportunity to not do the same thing again.  Let go and move on.  Believe, there are much bigger issues to contend with.

If this too has happened to you, do the right thing.  You know what that is.   You can’t take it back, you can’t change what happened.  Move forward a better more knowledgeable person.

Office marriage

October 9th, 2009 by sbartro-greenville

jim-and-pam

So I got to watch “The Office” last night, completely forgetting it was the night Jim and Pam were to marry!  I think they are the cutest “tv couple.”  And it’s kinda weird for me to say that b/c it’s only a show and they didn’t get married in real life nor do they have a relationship in real life and I feel like I’m talking like I know these people personally… and I don’t.  Do you know the feeling I am trying to get across?  Or am I just babbling?  Anyway, they make their relationship seem so real, like they really are all those things I just said.

Phew!  Now my real point.  My favorite part of last nights episode is when Pam called Jim and asked him to come see her, even though it “isn’t allowed” before the exchange of vows the day of!  She was kinda freaking out with everything going on, she had just ripped her veil and was heading for a breakdown.  Then Jim grabbed the scissors and cut his tie in half.  Now that is love.

And I know a lot of us watch scenes like that in shows and movies and think “yeah, that only happens on tv.”  Well what if it’s not just TV, but giving us examples of how we could be more romantic and loving and compassionate in our own relationships.  So we could feel those warm and fuzzies with our loves rather than watching some other couple feel them.  Ladies, when was the last time your guy “cut off his own tie” to make you feel better?  When was the last time you called him to ask him to “come here” just because his presence is a strength for you and will prevent you from becoming unglued?

Maybe TV is trying to teach us something…. or quite possibly I shouldn’t be writing this stuff at this time in the month!!!  ;)

Oh to be a kid again…

October 7th, 2009 by sbartro-greenville

John and I are getting new toilets installed in the house tomorrow. Thanks goodness. One makes a hissing noise all day if we leave the water on, the other rocks a little bit. Not cool. Owning a home definitely has its pros… and its cons. What happened to the days when the only thing that mattered was whether or not you were gonna hook a sunfish only to throw him back in the lake?

Funny, back then it was cool to put peroxide in your hair and watch it lighten up week after week. Now I have a professional do it.

Don’t forget… it’s WET NOSE WEDNESDAY!  See who’s up for adoption from the Greenville Humane Society in the video player above!
