Success of viral music video “Stand By Me” fuels CD sales

This is something I posted a while ago… and now it has totally taken off!  Concord Music Group producer Mark Johnson went around and video taped a bunch of street performers doing Ben E. King’s Stand By Me, compiled all the audio and video… and now CD and DVD sales are through the roof!  My Mom had filled me in on this, and now she has sent me an article out of the Ocala Star-Banner.  A piece on Mark Johnson!  Over 11 million people have viewed the YouTube video (link is above).  The CD/DVD for purchase is called “Songs Around the World.

Here is my post a while back:

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!  If you were able to be with your Mom, talk to your Mom or just remember your Mom, I hope the time was blessed with peace.

My Mom sent me this 5 minute clip of Street Performers.  Two things here.  One, I have a new appreciation for those who gift us their talents and perform for tips.  Second, It’s amazing in so many different parts of the world, these performers sing and share the same song.  Ben E. King did it right.  Because there is a time, or two or three, when we all need someone to “Stand By Me.”

When I wouldn’t want to be a fly on the wall!

June 22nd, 2009 by sbartro-greenville

So, PETA is getting after President Obama for killing a fly.  (Last time I checked, a fly is an insect.)  I’m trying not to get sick here, but flies are so dirty.  One less fly in the world, the better.  I never heard someone say “thank goodness for the flies.”

The House Fly - A Day in the Life

You will find house flies pretty much everywhere there are humans or animals. Flies love things like garbage, manure and anything else that left out in a warm environment (like the chicken you left thawing on your counter all day). House flies don’t feed off of human flesh - they get their nutrients from spitting saliva on their food, which liquifies it so they can suck it up with their sponge-like mouths. (from www.kidzworld.com)

Black flies are even nastier.

If you missed the video of President Obama killing the fly, here it is for you!

Used versus Loved

June 19th, 2009 by sbartro-greenville

I know this is only a story, but the point it makes WILL impact you somehow as it did me.  I’m so thankful my friend Kin sent this to me today.  It’s just what I needed.

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up stone and scratched lines on the side of the car. In anger, the man took the child’s hand and hit it many times; not realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father…..with painful eyes he asked, ‘Dad when will my fingers grow back?’ The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.

Devastated by his own actions……sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches; the child had written ‘LOVE YOU DAD’.

The next day that man committed suicide. . .
Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely life….
Things are to be used and people are to be loved.
But the problem in today’s world is that, People are used and things are loved… During this year, let’s be careful to keep this thought in mind: Things are to be used, but People are to be loved … Be yourself….This is the only day we HAVE.

Have a nice day.

Best regards,
Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL

Good and cheap!

Thursday I popped into the Greenville Humane Society since I was on that side of town delivering lunch… I had to pick up a few things for our dogs.  My camera was with me, so I took some shots.  If you’ve never been to the Greenville Humane Society, the renovations that took place a few years ago are just phenominal.  Whether you’ve adopted or not from GHS, their store inside has THE BEST prices in town for dog and cat grooming and maintenance.  Frontline, toys, bones, leashes, collars… all at reduced prices.  It almost feels like your stealing from the Greenville Humane Society!  If you have pets, then you definitely want to shop their store for these items.  Over the course of year, it will save you a boo-koo of bucks!

This is GHS’s store.  The profits are used for the spay and neuter clinic at GHS.

I visited at the right time!  This is Tyler Shake and Patricia Nelson, proud new owners of “Gus,” a Retriver mix.  Well, “Gus” is the preliminary name :)  Right after I took this picture….

dscf1389

Mariah and Nick were also adopting!  Prelim name “Laura.”  “Laura” too is a Retriever mix, “a cute one” said Mariah.  Come to think of it, the two pups look like brother and sister.  But BOTH have been adopted into very good families and that is what matters most!

When you walk out of the Greenville Humane Society, this big ‘ole sign is here to meet you on your exit.  Isn’t it great!

dscf1387

These are the items I picked up while I was there.  Those collars, $5 for the big one, $3 for the little one.  The toys, $2 each!  The bones, $3 a piece!  And the Frontline, a 3 month supply will cost you between $36 - $38.  Really, really fantastic prices.  They are located on Furman Hall Rd. behind Cherrydale Point Cinemas.

Maybe you just need to see the doctor!  He’ll for sure find a light at the end of the tunnel for you.  Hahahahah.  This is cute!
