It amazes me that people can be so hurtful and hateful to each other, but be so kind and loving to creatures.  Albeit, there are those human beings that are both hurtful to others and creatures.  How can someone kick a cat or dog?  Why would you do that?  Why would you purposely plot to cause pain to another person?  It just stupifies me.

The reason I share this, I read about a Mayor in Auckland, New Zealand who told the city’s homeless that they have just as much right to live in the city as stray cats.  Council officials wanted to look into “moving along” these homeless people. 

But people of the city would do anything they could to take care of strays running through the community.  Maybe not giving them a home, but making sure their little tummies were full.  What the Mayor said that really displayed his compassion for people and animals is this:  “Companion animals in this city and all creatures have as much right to live in this city as we do, so every creature needs to be treated with respect and dignity.”

We don’t how those homeless got to where they are today, but b/c they are less fortunate than me, I’m gonna treat them as less fortunate?  No, I don’t think so.
