ghs.jpgMeet Paris!  She is a Chihuahua mix.  Please watch the video above.

Very well behaved and seems to be house-trained.  She was brought to the Greenville Humane Society as a stray.  She’s a great dog, I had a lot of fun with her in the studio.  She’s great with kids and other dogs as well.  Just $79.00 for the Greenville Humane Society….Christmas is coming!!

Also, Greenville Humane Society has their OWN APPAREL WEBSITE now!  You can purchase fashionable clothing with the cool logo of the Greenville Humane Society.  I’m pretty sure I am going to get the long-sleeve black tee.  And best of all, part of the proceeds go back to the GHS to assist with operation costs and taking care of ALL the wonderful (homeless) animals brought to them.  This too would make a wonderful Christmas present!  Click here to take a look at all the wonderful apparel the Greenville Humane Society has to offer.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I will talk with you Monday!

giftcard.jpggiftbow.jpg I’ve received this email about 3 times, so I don’t know if it is true or not… but… in the event that it is true and you have gift cards to any of these stores, you definitely want to use them before you’re just left with a piece of pretty plastic!  (I do know about the Linens and Things stores b/c I see the signs all over the place)

Stores that are planning to close after Christmas are still selling gift cards through the holidays even though the cards will be worthless January 1. There is no law preventing them from doing this.  On the contrary, it is referred to as ‘Bankrupcy Planning.’  Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be cautious about.

Wet Nose Wednesday!

daisy-11.jpg   This little girl is dear to me.  She has been at the Greenville Humane Society way too long.  Daisy.  Please watch video of her above.

We first featured Daisy on October 13th.  (I mispoke in the video)  To my amazement, she is still there!  We can’t make the Greenville Humane Society her home.  Please, if you are considering a dog for your family, please consider Daisy.  She does need love and care and someone to teach her things, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a good dog for your home.  You can adopt Daisy for just $19.50!

Also, to help ease the cost of taking care of your pets, the Greenville Humane Society will be offering 25% off spay/neuter surgeries until the end of the year.  Below are some myths/facts about spaying and neuturing:

Do you have the facts straight when it comes to spaying and neutering your pet? Find out which commonly held perceptions are mere myths.

MYTH: It’s better to have one litter first.

FACT: Medical evidence indicates just the opposite.  In fact, the evidence shows that females spayed before their first heat are typically healthier.  Many veterinarians now sterilize dogs and cats as young as eight weeks of age.  Check with your veterinarian about the appropriate time for these procedures.

MYTH: My children should experience the miracle of birth.

FACT: Even if children are able to see a pet give birth - which is unlikely, since it usually occurs at night and in seclusion - the lesson they will really learn is that animals can be created and discarded as it suits adults.  Instead, it should be explained to children that the real miracle is life and that preventing the birth of some pets can save the lives of others.

MYTH: But my pet is a purebred.

FACT: So is at least one out of every four pets brought to animal shelters around the country. There are just too many dogs and cats-mixed breed and purebred.

MYTH: But my animal is so special, I want another just like her.

FACT: A dog or cat may be a great pet, but that doesn’t mean her offspring will be a carbon copy.  Professional animal breeders who follow generations of bloodlines can’t guarantee they will get just what they want out of a particular litter.  A pet owner’s chances are even slimmer.  In fact, an entire litter of puppies or kittens might receive all of a pet’s (and her mate’s) worst characteristics.

MYTH: It’s too expensive to have my pet spayed or neutered.

FACT: The cost of spaying or neutering depends on a number of variables. But whatever the actual price, spay or neuter surgery is a one-time cost - a relatively small cost when compared to all the benefits.  It’s a bargain compared to the cost of having a litter and ensuring the health of the mother and litter; two months of pregnancy and another two months until the litter is weaned can add up to significant veterinary bills and food costs if complications develop.  Most importantly, it’s a very small price to pay for the health of your pet and the prevention of the births of more unwanted pets.

MYTH: I’ll find good homes for all the puppies and kittens.

FACT: You may find homes for all of your pet’s litter.  But each home you find means one less home for the dogs and cats in shelters who need good homes.  Also, in less than one year’s time, each of your pet’s offspring may have his or her own litter, adding even more animals to the population.  The problem of pet overpopulation is created and perpetuated one litter at a time.

The above facts and myths were taken from The Humane Society of the United States website. For more information on this topic please visit www.hsus.org.

It’s your weekend!

daisy-1.jpg       daisy-2.jpg

Maybe this weekend is your weekend…. to adopt from the Greenville Humane Society!!!  I went over the GHS today to pick up some Frontline for one of my dogs.  (The Greenville Humane Society has AWESOME prices on Frontline, 3 month supply for $39.00!)  While I was there I wanted to walk through and see the gang.  To my amazement, and saddness, I saw Daisy still there, one month after we featured her on Wet-Nose Wednesday.  I know she doesn’t want to call the Greenville Humane Society home.  I just know she doesn’t.  Daisy is a 2 year old Hound, German Shephard Mix and is only $19.50There is nothing wrong with her, in very good health and spade.  If you are considering a dog for your household, please consider Daisy.  Two pictures of her here, plus, if you go up top to the video of all the dogs featured, Daisy is the first video.

Whatever your weekend holds, enjoy!  Hug and kiss your family members and share good times with friends.

What in the world?

It is always so comical to see others mishaps… innocent mishaps.  It makes me chuckle and reminds me that even the most affluent make mistakes too!  So the next time you mess up big time, as long as it’s not written on paper, don’t sweat it, most people will forget.  Enjoy!  (Thanks Jack Pyles for sending this to me!)

Someone needs to explain to the Supreme Court what “Thou shalt not…” means.  No room for argument here.

You don’t say!

This story headline here.  That’s what I’m talking about.  Jay Cronley was probably just writing a good-hearted piece about this man, thought of a great headline, never once considering how in the world can the man clap with only one hand!?  I’m sure he realized his mistake AFTER the piece printed.  Probably the first thing he recognized when he picked up the paper.  Orrrr, you don’t think he could be that mean-spirited do you?

uno-4.JPG           uno-3.JPG

Thanks for stopping by to check out our latest adoptee from the GREENVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY

This is Uno.  He’s a 6 year old Pomeranian mix and as delightful as can be.  He is $79.00 from the Greenville Humane Society on Furman Hall Road in Greenville.  He is great for your family.  He knows how to sit, lay and speak.  He spins around and does little tricks AND HE’S HOUSE TRAINED!!!  He knows he has to go outside to use the bathroom.

Just a big ‘ole furry bundle of love.  If you would like to adopt Uno, please call the GHS at 864-242-3626.  I do not know if he has been neutered or not, but he will be (if he isn’t) before he leaves to come home with you!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.  And to you who adopts Uno, thank you, you will enjoy him!

CMA Awards

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

brad-paisley.jpg  Tomorrow night, the 42nd Annual CMA Awards show will broadcast live on ABC (8p-11p) from Sommett Center in Nashville, TN.  Your hosts will be Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

Keith Urban, in my opinion, is the most desirable country music star.  I mean, God sat down and took time with this fabulous creation.  Phew!  Honestly, my heart skips a beat just writing about him!

Where was I going with this?…  oh, CMA Awards.  Brad Paisley, he is another favorite of mine from country music.  He just comes across as a fun-loving, genuine spirit.  And the songs he writes.  From Celebrity (video starring Jason Alexander, William Shatner and a host of other celebs)Alcohol (hilarious song), Whiskey Lullaby (video directed by Rick Schroder, the kid from Silver Spoons) and now, Waiting on a Woman (video starring Andy Griffith.)  Who cannot fall in love with Brad Paisley?

For white teeth, use Crest!

Monday, November 10th, 2008

crest.jpg  I was looking back at all my Greenville Humane Society video blogs the other day.  Man alive, there are some days I was looking good… and then there were others!  No wonder the puppy’s were scared!

One thing I did take considerable notice of, how white my teeth are!  I don’t do regular whitening treatments.  I think the last time I did use the Crest home whitening system was a year ago!  But that still couldn’t be the reason why my teeth are so white.  I am a regular coffee drinker, so I do get stains.

CREST - Tartar Control Whitening - Cool Mint Paste

(Pictured above)  That is the answer to my white teeth.  Honestly.  This is the only toothpaste that I have used, for years, and has stood the test of time.  You HAVE TO USE the Cool Mint Paste though.  I don’t care for the gels or the baking soda.  I have used other brands of toothpaste, Aquafresh Whitening, Colgate Whitening… NOTHING works like CREST - Tartar Control Whitening - Cool Mint Paste.  You want white teeth, you want to use what I use.  CREST - Tartar Control Whitening - Cool Mint Paste.

Now you won’t see results after a few uses.  You have to stick with it, give it at least 6 months and you will start to see a difference!  Now, go getcha some and flash those pearly whites!
